Copper
Proven Material for Highest Conductivity
ETP Copper is ideally suited for applications requiring high electrical conductivity, but due to its oxygen content, it has limited solderability and weldability.
OFE Copper is highly pure, oxygen-free, and offers excellent conductivity as well as very good soldering and welding properties.
Copper is easily mechanically processable and widely available in the market – however, it is more volatile in price than aluminum.
Aluminum (EN 6101B-T6)
Increasingly used in electrotechnical applications. This alloy is hard, which improves the flow properties of aluminum. The contact resistance is very good compared to other aluminum alloys. Due to the high degree of hardness, mechanical processing, especially bending with tight radii, is challenging. However, Promet has developed a process that allows achieving radii similar to copper bars. Availability is limited.
Aluminum (EN 6101B-T6)
Traditional alloy for electrotechnical applications with very good contact resistance. Quickly forms insulating oxide layers. The material is soft, which can be problematic in bolted connections as screw connections could loosen over time. High market availability, more stable price volatility than copper.
Cuponal
Light, Conductive, Efficient – The Best of Copper and Aluminum
Copper-clad aluminum bars offer high conductivity, low weight, and easy processing. The copper surface ensures low contact resistance, while the aluminum core provides cost and weight advantages.
Good heat dissipation, high short-circuit strength, and stable price levels make them a smart alternative.
