Grounding straps

Connections from E-Cu flat strands, grounding straps and conductor lines are used to bridge electrical connections in a flexible way and to compensate for mechanical movements. The flexibility of the strands is affected by the diameter of the individual wires (0.05 mm to 0.20 mm) and the cross section and the structure of the meshes. The strand ends are manufactured as: dip soldered ends, pressed copper sleeves, brass sleeves and cable lugs, as well as special enclosing elements of copper or brass.

The EMK type ground strips are unique in the market, because the connections of the straps are pressure welded in a special procedure under water. The grounding straps are available both as tinned as well as bare. With our production, we are able to offer both custom solutions as well as dimensions, which are not available on our official lists.

All cross sections are also available by the meter and in aluminum

This has the following advantages:

  • No use of soldering tin
  • No use of contact sleeves/it is possible, however, on customer request
  • Minimum contact resistance, resulting in less heating
  • Soft thermal transition
  • High current carrying capacity
  • Low impedance
  • No mechanical notch
  • Low strength difference in transition
  • Homogeneous structure in the connection area

The straps are made of highly flexible E-Cu flat fabric with single wire diameter of 0.15 mm, with tinned copper according to the standard. These straps are used both as ground or grounding straps, as well as a highly flexible current transmission element, when connections with minimal transition and connecting resistances are required.

Upon request, the grounding straps are also available as an insulated version. Custom designs and larger cross-sections available on request.

Expansion connectors

Expansion connectors serve both as a strain and vibration compensation within busbar joints, on the other hand as a flexible current transmission element in machine parts and switching devices. The expansion connectors are connected by press welding at the ends to form compact connectors.

Frequent applications

  • Expansion and vibration compensation
  • Between busbars
  • Between busbars and switchgears
  • Transformers
  • Generators
  • Resistance welding machines
  • Switchgear

Important advantages

  • Long service life
  • Excellent price-performance ratio
  • High quality product

Materials used

Depending on the required current values, mainly copper and aluminum straps are used, but also combinations of both.Technical details

  • Thin, packaged individual foils
  • The massive ends may be provided with holes
  • Copper expansion connectors
  • Aluminum expansion connectors

In the production of technically advanced connectors of different materials, we have a wealth of experience in:

  • MIG or TIG welding
  • Press welding
  • Explosion cladding
  • Electron beam welding
  • Aluminothermic welding
  • Brazing

Flexible Busbars C-Flex

C-Flex, the innovative and cost-effective connection

Due to its highly developed and proven technology, C-Flex sets a new standard in the field of flexible busbars. C-Flex - the busbar that can do more, because flexibility alone is not enough!
C-Flex consists of several stacked copper fins. These are permanently protected by a high quality, special PVC insulation (C-Flex standard) or a rubber-like, halogen-free Santoprene insulation (C-Flex halogen-free). The loose lamellae in the insulation enable easy bending and twisting. The fine lamination gives C-Flex excellent flexibility.

Applications

  • For all electrical connections in switching cabinets and low voltage systems
  • As a movable component inside of massive busbar systems
  • For the connection to generators, transformers, switchgear and switching devices
  • As a supply line to machine switches, immersion baths, etc.
  • As a riser in switchgears

The conductor material

  • Highly conductive E-Cu 99.9
  • Tinned or bare copper fins
  • From 0.5 mm (small cross-sections) to 1.0 mm fin thickness
  • Suitable for drilling or punching
  • The insulation

  • Durable with reinforced edges
  • High operating voltage
  • Homogeneous, stress-free insulation (no bursting at the edges)
  • Higher thermal short-circuit strength than with other comparable insulated
  • Conductor rails or cables
  • Different colours
  • Meets RoHS directive

3 different versions

C-Flex standard = PVC, self-extinguishing

C-Flex halogen-free = Santoprene, halogen-free

C-FLEX environmentally friendly and easy to install

  • Highest flexibility
  • Bending with small radii
  • Shorter connections and space saving
  • Safe operation due to high operating temperatures and high operating voltages
  • Certified and controlled by UL/CSA

C-Flex will be tailored to your requirements

  • Cutting to length

In the field of flexible C-Flex copper busbars, Promet has an extensive range of accessories

  • Flat terminals for connection to busbars, no drilling
  • Pressure plates for connecting (one hole) to flat busbars
  • High current terminals for clamping connection (no drilling required) of C-Flex in the longitudinal direction
  • Wire connection terminals for flat busbars with 5 mm and 10 mm thickness

Insulators

The type KIS insulators with excellent electrical and mechanical properties can be used under difficult operating conditions, such as high ambient temperatures, in contact with caustic substances, under vibrations, etc.

The middle layer formed as a hexagon with two opposite sides facilitates the adhesion and locking of the insulator into place.

The type designation KIS20M4 stands for:

Plastic insulator standard/height 20 mm/thread M

Upon request, the insulators are also available in the following versions:

  • With a thread not usual in mass production
  • Insulator without threaded bolts "GB"
  • Insulator with one or two threaded bolts "GB"
  • Operating temperature: -40 °C to +130 °C
  • Fire behaviour: Self-extinguishing according to UL 94-V0
  • Halogen-free
  • Silicone-free
  • UL – E111031
